We have several offices in Central and Southern England and have ambitious plans to expand our business. To support the organisation’s growth, we have created a new opportunity for a US Tax Manager/Senior Manager to join our London US Tax team. This position also includes a comprehensive induction and support for professional memberships and CPE. 
The Role
Key Responsibilities

  • Building long lasting client relationships 
  • Designated signer for US returns including both Federal and state returns
  • Review and signing of individual US tax returns for a large & varied portfolio of clients 
  • Helping to train & mentor junior members of the team
  • US tax research & providing advice as needed
  • Tracking of tax return status on internal systems for reporting purposes
  • Completion of various US compliance forms including FBARs, W-8BENS, SS-4s, etc
  • Build productive relationships with team members and colleagues at Shaw Gibbs, adopting a collaborative working approach

About You
  • You will have between 5-8 years’ post-qualification experience of dealing with US taxes
  • You will have previously been a designated signer for US returns
  • You will have strong technical knowledge of US Tax return procedures
  • You will have generalist experience across UK & US tax procedures or a specific US tax focus
  • You will be an enrolled Agent, US CPA, JD (or near to certification)
  • As one of the above you will experience of communicating with the IRS regarding client matters
  • A familiarity with US Foreign Informational filings such as Forms 8858, 5471, & 8865 is desirable 
  • A familiarity with basic accounting principles & financial statements is desirable 
  • University degree with 2.1 or higher or 3 good A-Level results (or equivalent)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and client management skills 
  • Able to produce high quality work in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player
  • Confident, positive, professional and can-do attitude
  • Strong IT skills, specifically Excel and able to pick up new IT packages very quickly
  • Create a positive impression with clients and staff 
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A proactive approach
  • Enjoy developing junior staff
